Svyatsk, Bryansk Region, USSR. The 300-years-old Svyatsk village, abandoned after the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant disaster. All residents were relocated due to the radiation levels (40 Ci/km), and the only ones left in the village are elderly people who refused to leave. Leonid Sverdlov/TASS
