Gomel Region, Belarus. A road in the 30 km exclusion zone of the 1986 Chernobyl nuclear disaster. On April 26, 1986, there was a catastrophic nuclear accident at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant. 2/3 of the radioactive substances released by the catastrophe hit Belarus, where 1/5 of the population suffered from radiation effects.
