Russian neuroscientist and psychologist Natalia

St.Petersburg, Russia. On July 7, 1999, Russian neuroscientist and psychologist Natalia Bekhtereva, in pic. turned 75. Granddaughter of famous Soviet neurologist, psychiatrist and physiologist Vladimir Bekhterev, she graduated from Pavlov First Leningrad Medical University and did postgraduate studies at Bekhterev Psychoneurological Institute. She was the first Soviet scientist to introduce the implantation of electrodes into brain structures in 1962. Bekhtereva published 200 scientific papers and 7 monographs on human brain physiology. Natalia Bekhtereva is Vice President of the International Union of Physiological Sciences, Honorary Member of the Hungarian Society of Electrophysiologists and Foreign Member of the Austrian Academy of Sciences.
