Tree contaminated by radiation, 1988

Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic. During the Great Patriotic War, German Nazis used the tree in the shape of a cross (in pic) as a gallows to hang Soviet partisans. Following the Chernobyl accident, the woods where the tree grows was contaminated with radioactivity and cut down.
