WWII monument on Poklonnaya Hill in Moscow, 1995

Moscow, Russia. The Monument of Victory designed by architects Leonid Vavakin, Vladimir Budayev and Zurab Tsereteli and erected in 1995 as a part of the WWII memorial complex in the Victory Park [Park Pobedy] on the Poklonnaya Hill appears as the stela 141, 8 m high [462 ft] standing for the 1418 days of the Soviet Union's war against Nazi Germany and crowned with the winged statue of Nike, the ancient Greek goddess of victory. At the bottom of the stela there is the bronze equestrian statue of St George the Victorious known as the patron of the Russian Armed Forces. Igor Zotin/ITAR-TASS
