Cartoon of Charles Bradlaugh (1833-1891), atheist politician, elected to parliament as Liberal MP for Northampton. The Northampton Tragedian. He is turned away from the Stage Door of St Stephen's Theatre (ie Parliament), but is determined to try again. A reference to difficulties over his taking an oath of allegiance, which did not happen until 1886
