Cartoon of Charles Wyndham (1837-1919), English actor-manager, playing the part of a prisoner, Peregrine Porter, in a play by Henry James Byron (1835-1884), seen here on the left as a prison guard. The play, translated from French, was entitled Fourteen Days, and ran at the Criterion Theatre, Piccadilly, London. The play is about a man who is sent to prison but, to conceal this unpleasant fact, tells family and friends that he is going abroad
