Cartoon of Nellie Farren (1848-1904), English actress and singer, and Edward Ledger (18??-1921), editor of The Era theatrical newspaper. Farren was best known for her roles as the principal boy in musical burlesques at the Gaiety Theatre, which allowed her to show her legs in tights. Ledger had evidently objected to this, as she is asking him if her trouser costume is delicate enough to suit him
