Licensing Bill poster 1908
A poster showing a politician, probably Prime Minister Asquith, who is overwhelmed by a barrel of public opinion over the Licensing Bill of 1908 which sought to reduce the number of licensed premises and consequently drunken behaviour. The working class saw it as an infringement on their liberty, especially as private members clubs were allowed to continue without restrictions
