Prefabricated harbour in position off the French coast, June 1944, WW2 - it was towed across the English Channel in sections and placed off the Arromanches beaches, for use during the Normandy landings. It was two miles long and one mile wide, and enabled more than 250, 000 men to land on a difficult part of the coastline
