HMS Dartmouth fires at shore batteries while the Mountjoy, a merchant ship, rams and breaches the boom, Londonderry, Ireland, 28 July 1689. Both ships, along with two others, were bringing provisions for the starving people in the besieged city (Siege of Derry, 18 April to 1 August). The food was delivered, and the siege was broken
