WW1 aerial dogfight - fake image

Many bi-planes, silhouetted against the sky, take part in an aerial dogfight.~~This image was one of a series of faked photographs which caused a sensation on publication in 1933. They accompanied the apparent diary of a World War One British pilot. Presented to the publisher by a Mrs Gladys Cockburne-Lange, were finally confirmed as fakes in the 1980s by the Smithsonian Museum. Mrs Cockburne-Lange was in fact Betty Archer, the wife of a model maker in the film industry
