Filling Sandbags - WW2 Home Front (4/4)
World War Two - British Home Front - London. Young men, boys and women of all ages fill sandbags in the street. The sandbags were piled against buildings and lower level windows to act as shock absorbers to negate the worst effects of bomb blasts. These pictures attest to the spirit of togetherness in the community. The four pictures in this series were taken in the Fulham area of West London. Photograph by Heinz Zinram
