A German prisoner of war is depicted 'in a hurry to get away from British shell-fire,' by the Illustrated London News, with three British soldiers walking behind. The accompanying article claimed that at the time soldiers of the Central Powers were being taken prisoner in considerable numbers, with many of those captured found unwounded.
