Extract from the Illustrated London News, October 8th 1938, celebrating Chamberlain's triumphant return to England following the Munich Agreement, claimed to have secured peace between Britain and Germany. Pictures from top right as follows:~~~~1)Mr. Chamberlain's leaves Heston Airport for Buckingham Palace.~~2)Mr. Chamberlain holding the declaration~~3)The declaration~~4)Outside 10 Downing Street~~5)Lord Claredon delivers a message from the King to Mr. Chamberlain~~6)The Prime Minister welcomed by Cabinet colleagues on landing at Heston Airport.~~~~The celebrations were short lived: less than a year later, world war two had begun.
