Details |
The Duchess of Leeds and the Countess of Annesley watching hopefully for their cars to arrive following the Coronation of King George VI at Westminster Abbey on 12 May 1937, while other peeresses turn their backs in resignation. A torrential downpour afterwards meant that a large proportion of the 7500 guests at Westminster Abbey were left stranded waiting for cars up to five hours after the event had finished.
