Date 1850
Description A child lies dying in a poor house in Ireland 1850
Details

A house at Fahey's Quay, Ennis, Ireland, showing the widow O'Connor praying over her dying child. The squalid conditions in the poorhouse are a reflection of the misery perpetuated by the potato famine, tenant farmer evictions and the poor law legislation that was extended to Ireland.
