Scene from Leon Gordon's play, White Cargo, which tells the story of how newcomers with ideals arrive in West Africa but become quickly demoralised with life there. The scene depicts a 'half-breed' woman, Tondeleyo, played by Miss Mary Clare being punished by her English husband, Weston (played by Franklin Dyall) for trying to poison him.
