The ablution facilities of the New Mosque (Mosque of the Valide Sultan), Istanbul, Turkey. The mosque was completed in 1663; an octagonal ablution fountain was built at the centre, but is only ornamental. In this photograph can be seen the functional ablution facilities, consisting of water taps on the south wall of the mosque.
