The British 1868 Expedition to Abyssinia was a punitive expedition against King Theodore, after he had imprisoned missionaries and representatives of the British Government. This is the house at Magdala where Consul Cameron and the Rev. Dr. Stern were first imprisoned. It was sketched by an ILN correspondent who was with the advanced force of Sir Robert Napier's Army.
