Friedrich von Ingenohl, Commander-in-Chief of the German High Seas Fleet at the outbreak of war in 1914. After overseeing unsuccesful actions against the Royal Navy at Heligoland Blight and Dogger Bank, he gave up command of the Fleet in February 1915
