Advert for The London Electrotype Agency. 'There's nothing like a puzzle'! To keep the children out of mischief. . . to amuse and entertain the convalescent. With a jig-saw in the house you have an entertaining and amusing companion always. From the pages of world-renowned illustrated newspapers have been selected a number of magnificent colour drawings by the most eminent artists of the day. The subjects, of general and of historical interest, have been reprinted as jig-saw puzzles, and are now offered for the first time. These jig-saws measure 16in by 12in. They are magnificently printed and permanently mounted on plywood. And so that you can store your puzzles neatly, they are packed in strongly made book-cover boxes.' We have two of these puzzles from The Sketch 1939, 10116544/10128957 Great-Grandpapa's Night Club (originally entitled Chateau Rouge) and 10116545/10107480 The Wedding Party on Wheels (originally entitled Noce en Velocipedes) by the French artist Charles Vernier.
