Description | Advert for National Savings Committee 1944 |
Details |
Local Committee Savings Offensive, allowed people to save small or larger sums of money that could be used by governments to fund budget deficits and wartime expenditures. 'We've got to keep on saving'! 'You bet I took her advice. . . . When our street savings Group Secretary told us we ought to go on saving, it didn't take me long to see that she was talking good sound common sense. Take my case. . . what Ted and I have got in savings seems a lot to us, but how far would it go now, even if the war ended to-morrow? We're going to let our savings go on growing until there's a better lot of things in the shops to choose from'.
