Advertisement for the "Old Bill" car mascot, exclusively sold by Smith of Motor Accessories fame. Old Bill was the soldier character created by the cartoonist Captain Bruce Bairnsfather in The Bystander magazine during the First World War. Old Bill's popularity was widespread and his image - and other wartime cartoons by Bairnsfather - was licensed for a wide range of merchandise.
