Description Aftermath of the explosion at Regents Canal
Details

The disaster at Regents Canal; the surrounding area burnt by the blast, with part of the destroyed houses still on fire. The explosion occurred when a barge covered in petroleum and gun powder blew up as it passed underneath the bridge on the night of 1st of October 1874. Several lives were lost and nearby houses destroyed.
