Description Alexandra Message Books to record words of the dying, WW1
Details

An example of the Alexandra Message Book, a notebook with perforated pages, used to note down the final words of dying British soldiers so they could be conveyed back to his family at home. A large number of the books were donated by Sir William Murray and sent to the front.
