Billy Bowlegs (Holata Micco) was a leader of the Seminole people, he went on to serve as a Captain in the Union Army during the Civil War. This picture dates from the 3rd Seminole war,1855-58, where his people were resisting being resettled from Florida to Oklahoma by the US Government.
