Description Archduke Maximilian receives the Mexican delegation
Details

The reception of the Mexican delegation by Archduke Ferdinand Maximilian at Miramar castle, off the coast of Italy. The head of the delegation holds out a letter from Gutierrez de Estrada, with the offer to accept the Mexican throne, which Maximilian on the left will later accept. He would be Emperor of Mexico for only three years.
