Description Arrival of Californian gold and Mexican dollars at the Bank
Details

Californian gold and Mexican dollars arriving at the Bank of England. Transported to London from the coast by South Coast Railway, it was then escorted by police from London Bridge Station to the bank. There was £120000 in gold and £400000 in Mexican dollars.
