Prison babies at play in the day nursery in Holloway, a women only prison where babies who were either born there or were under three months old when their mothers were jailed were cared for in the prison. The babies slept in cots within their mother's cell, with nurses overseeing the babies' welfare. At nine months of age the baby had to leave the prison
