Description Bairnsfather on leave by Marcel Poncin
Details

'The Face at the Window'. A humorous, and entirely imaginative, drawing of Captain Bruce Bairnsfather, famous soldier cartoonist and creator of Fragments from France and the character of Old Bill in The Bystander magazine by the French artist Marcel Poncin. Bairnsfather sits and contemplates various pieces of ladies' lingerie being presented to him in a shop while Old Bill looks through the window in amusement.
