Old Bill: "Hum! Yer likes 'em plain, I see"
The work of Captain Bruce Bairnsfather is brought to life on the stage of the Hippodrome, London, in a sketch entitled 'Bairnsfatherland'. Part of a revue entitled, 'Flying Colours', it was the joint creation of Bairnsfather himself and Basil Macdonald Hastings. Old Bill (on the right) was played by John Humphries, and Bert by Charles Berkeley.
