Baroness Orczy (1865 - 1947), 'The Baroness Orczy. Died on November 12 1947, aged eighty. Playwright, novelist and creator of the Scarlet Pimpernel. She began writing in 1900, and her world-famous 'The Scarlet Pimpernel' was published in 1905. Her works include 54 historical romances. She was married to Mr. Montague Barstow, who died in 1943.'
