Description Battle at the Schilberg Cross-roads; Second World War, 1945
Details

Sketch of a battle between British and German troops for control of the cross-roads in the town of Schilberg, Netherlands, 1945. This battle took place during the Allied 'Operation Blackcock' offensive. The sketch shows the scene as the Germans had just deployed a 'King Tiger' Tank (centre of the image), forcing Allied 'Sherman' tanks (one of which is seen extreme right) to retreat, leaving the Allied infantry to hold position. On the left of the sketch can be seen a knocked-out German anti-tank gun, surrounded by its dead crew.
