Front and back view of a trooper in the British Army with annotations pointing out key features such as the helmet cover to prevent reflections when wet, the anti gas sheet, gas mask 'at alert', pouch carrying Bren Gun magazines, grenades or small ammunition, haversack containing mess tin, water bottle, emergency water ration, cutlery, cardigan & ground sheet and web anklets. The pack contains other comforts and a sand bag allows more capacity for further items. The officer depicted on the far right carries a similar amount of kit but is also furnished with a compass pocket, binoculars and pistol case.
