A double page spread from The Tatler giving examples of economical outfits which could be purchased in wartime. Extravagant evening dresses are not featured but instead coat frocks, summer frocks and tailored suits predominate from retailers such as Harrods, Debenham & Freebody, Marshall & Snelgrove, Swears & Wells, Harvey Nichols, Peter Robinson and Gorringe. Note the children playing with a toy Red Cross ambulance.
