Date 1914
Description Belgian soldiers head to war
Details

When Belgium was invaded at the start of World War I, it was lacking in fighting men, equipment and officers with experience of war. She had 110,000 men, exclusive of the garrisons at Liege and Namur, to guard the road to Brussels. These men, however, proceeded to the firing line, as seen in this photograph, with determination and eagerness.
