Maximilian's resting place in the Imperial Crypt in Vienna, moved there after being embalmed and displayed in Mexico for a year. A monk stands by the coffin decorated in wreaths and sashes. At the foot of the coffin, a woman with a mourning veil kneels and reads from a book, while another woman standing beside her weeps. Three children stand by her.
