Castle of Boumili Missar on the Bosphorus, Turkey, 1856. At the conclusion of the Crimean War the Sultan of Turkey was presented with the Order of the Garter by Queen Victoria at Constantinople (now Istanbul). There was huge British public interest in Turkey, due to the alliance between Britain, France and Turkey during the Crimean War.
