Description Burning of emigrant ship Volturno by G. H. Davis
Details

The burning of the emigrant ship Volturno in mid-Atlantic. How the boats from the rescue fleet approached the burning British steamer at dawn. The vessel was sailing from Rotterdam to New York. Eleven ships came to the rescue, saving 520 passengers and crew. About 130 people, mostly women and children, were lost.
