Description Butcher's Shop during the Siege of Paris 1871
Details

Scene at a Paris butchers, selling and killing dogs and cats for meat, during the Siege of Paris, 1870-1. At the time of this illustration, the siege had lasted for over 3 months and Parisians were desperate for food. One can see dogs of all shapes and sizes here including one, possibly stolen, being traded covertly.
