Busy butchers shop, with plenty of customers, and only cat's and dog's carcasses on display during the Siege of Paris, winter of 1870-1. During the four month siege by the Prussian army, thousands of domestic pets and zoo animals were slaughtered and eaten by the multitude of starving Parisians.
