Description | Bystander front cover - Prince of Wales as a polo player |
Details |
Edward, Prince of Wales (1895 - 1972), later King Edward VIII, then Duke of Windsor, pictured on the front cover of The Bystander, in polo clothing. An enthusiastic, but not particularly skilful sportsman, the Bystander describes him as, 'as popular on the polo field as he is in the 'Shires'. A typical example of the idolatry surrounding him before the Abdication.
