Description Canadian Gunner with German Munitions, France
Details

A Canadian gunner inspecting some captured German 14-inch shells, Boulogne. The shells shown in the picture would have been used to fire at Dover, had not the Allied forces over-run the German artillery positions. Boulogne was finally captured on 22nd September that year, after a siege lasting several weeks.
