Description | Canberra: the swimming-pool |
Details |
Colour illustration depicting the swimming pool of P&O's super-liner 'Canberra'. Designed by architects Casson and Rendle, the pool was of white mosaic and set within tiers of sunbathing terraces. The teak flooring continued into the Abolido Club. The internal design of 'Canberra', who would make voyages to Australia, marked a new era of ocean travel. It was the biggest ship to be built by Harland & Wolff shipyard since White Star's 'Britannic' in 1914.
