Captain James McCudden (1895 - 1918), R.F.C, V.C., D.S.O. (with bar), M.C. (with bar), M.M., Croix de Guerre, British WWI flying ace and recipient of the Victoria Cross. McCudden joined the Royal Flying Corps in 1913 and rose from an air mechanic to Major during the war. At his death, he had amassed 57 different victories making him the seventh highest scoring ace of the conflict.
