Cartoon, A Good Offer -- 'Take to this cap, Papa Pius. You will find it more comfortable than your own.' Giuseppe Garibaldi offers Pope Pius IX a cap of Liberty to replace his triple crown, but the Pope doesn't seem to like the idea. The unification of Italy is seen as a possible threat to the power of the Roman Catholic church, bringing in modern ideas of freedom and democracy.
