Description | Cartoon, Bird of Prey, harpy fashion |
Details |
Cartoon, bird of prey, harpy fashion -- a satirical comment on the fashion for using wild bird feathers on hats and other accessories. "Despite the laudable endeavours of The Society for the Protection of Birds [the Society was formed in 1889 and was granted its Royal Charter in 1904 becoming the RSPB], the harpy fashion appears still ... to make endless holocausts of small fowl for the furnishing forth of feather trimmings for the fair sex".
