Cartoon, Harpagon's sacrifice. Harpagon (the Miser in Moliere's play L'Avare) readily hands his gold coins (Louis and Napoleons) to Marianne (the French state) so that ammunition can be made out of them to defeat the enemy. A comment on wartime taxation.
