Cartoon, Swell Mob at the Opening of Parliament -- satirical comment on Conservative MPs such as Benjamin Disraeli and Lord Derby, 'waiting for a party', in other words hoping to attract members of the Peelite faction to strengthen their ranks. Their rival, Lord Palmerston, had just won a general election for the Whig party.
